online therapy for adults with bpd parents

Hi there! I’m Torie!

An Online Anxiety and Depression Therapist

It’s so nice to meet you! I love being a therapist, and I’m incredibly passionate about the work that I do. My goal as a therapist is help you feel more empowered to handle life stressors, both while we’re working together, and long after therapy comes to an end (that’s right, I don’t believe therapy should last forever!).

As an anxious, high achiever myself, I have a soft spot in my heart for working with other anxious, high achievers. I understand the constant stress and time drain of worrying and planning for every worst case scenario that may unfold. Not to mention how unhelpful and stressful it is to have unrealistically high standards for yourself and the other people in your life. The good news is, there is another (happier) way, and therapy can help you find it.

I’m a pretty direct and straightforward person in my personal life and in the therapy room. And, I encourage my clients to be direct with me as well. This feedback loop is super helpful in making sure we’re making progress towards the changes that matter most to you.

As a native Southern Californian who relocated to the Pacific Northwest, I love being active outdoors. When I’m not in the (virtual) therapy room, you’ll probably find me hanging out with my family and friends or out walking, hiking, or running with my adorable dog. Or, you very well might find me catching up on my favorite trashy reality tv shows to unwind (we all have our guilty pleasures, right?).

Just in case you’re curious…

  • My therapy career began in San Diego, California a decade ago. I began providing therapy as a graduate student in 2013. Throughout the course of my career, I have provided individual, group, and family therapy to adults, teens, and children.

My professional experience includes working in an inpatient mental health hospital, community-based settings, non-profit clinics, and schools.

In 2018, I opened my private practice in San Diego. I have seen clients both online and in-person since that time. In the beginning of 2023, I transitioned my practice entirely online and obtained additional licensure in Oregon and Washington.

I have experience working with clients who are struggling with anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorders, psychosis, personality disorders, career-related stress, academic stress, relationship issues, family conflict, and eating disorders. Additionally, I have provided crisis intervention services to people struggling with self-harm and suicidality.

  • I have an integrated approach to therapy that pulls from Coginitive-Behavioral therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Post-Modern therapies, and Humanistic therapy.

I strongly believe that therapy should provide you with tools you can implement into your day-to-day life, as well as help you better understand yourself by exploring patterns and meaningful relationships that have occurred throughout your life.

If you have any questions about my approach, just ask, and I’m happy to discuss further!

  • I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from San Diego State University, and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy from National University.

I am continuously participating in ongoing training and consultations to improve my practice. Psychotherapy is an exciting field that is always evolving, and there are always new things to learn!

Some of the areas in which I have had additional training and/or consultation include:

Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (this is the evidence-based treatment for people with Borderline Personality Disorder)

    Family Therapy

    Crisis Intervention

Treating anorexia and other eating disorders

I work virtually with therapy clients in California, Oregon and Washington. If you’re looking for virtual OCD, anxiety, or depression therapy, let’s connect!
